Privacy policy

In short
- You do not need to sign up to use the site, and we use no analytics or advertising.
- If you subscribe, we store your email or push subscription only to send you the model alerts you asked for.
- The adventure card and emergency contacts are stored only on your device.
- Some third-party services (for example the Windy map or web fonts) receive your IP address when they load.
Controller and contact
The data controller is the creator of AlertaParques, an individual in Chile who builds and maintains the project. For any question or to exercise your rights, write to alertaparques@gmail.com.

We do not sell or share your data for commercial purposes and do not use your email for anything other than alerts.
Adventure card
- It is saved in your browser’s local storage. It is not sent to AlertaParques, not synced and not kept in the site’s network cache.
- It only leaves your phone if you share it via WhatsApp or SMS (you send the message to whoever you choose) or print it.
- ID or passport is optional and unticked by default.
- If you share this phone, other people can see your card. You can delete it with the “Delete my card” button.
Providers
- Cloudflare: site hosting, Workers, D1 database, KV and queues.
- Resend: sends alert emails (receives your email and the alert content).
- Your browser’s push services (e.g. Google, Mozilla or Apple, depending on your browser): receive notifications to deliver them.
- Windy: the map on park pages loads from windy.com; Windy receives your IP and may use its own storage under its policy.
- Google Fonts, jsDelivr y Google Cloud Storage: fonts, the charting library and the offline-mode code are downloaded from their servers, which receive your IP.
- Open-Meteo: weather data source. Our servers query it with trail coordinates; it receives no data about you.
How long we keep your data
- Email and push subscription: while you are subscribed. You can unsubscribe with the link in every email.
- Today, unsubscribing deactivates the subscription, but the record is not deleted automatically. If you want it fully deleted, write to us and we will delete it. We are working on making unsubscribing delete it automatically.
- Card and contacts: until you delete them from your device.
Your rights
Under Chilean Law 19,628 on privacy you can request access, rectification, deletion and objection regarding your data. Law 21,719, which updates these rules, enters into force on 1 December 2026 ( source). To exercise them, write to alertaparques@gmail.com stating the email or device of the subscription.
Cookies and local storage
AlertaParques uses no first-party tracking cookies or analytics. In your browser it stores: your light/dark theme preference, whether you dismissed the install prompt, the card and emergency contacts, and an offline copy of site pages (service worker). The third-party services listed above, especially the Windy map, may use their own storage.
